Meeting on Society for Prevention of cruelty to Animals
On February 2, 2024, the ZP CEO Madam Garu , headed a District Level meeting at the mini meeting hall in the Collectorate, Ananthapuram. The meeting focused on the Society for prevention of cruelty to Animals , with committee members.
FUNCTIONS OF SPCA
● To aid the government, andhra pradesh state animal welfare board, andhra pradesh state cow protection and animal preservation committee,
goshala development committee and animal welfare board of india, chennai in enforcing the provisions of the act
● To make such bylaws and guidelines as it may deem fit necessary for efficient discharge of its duties
● To check various forms of cruelties inflicted on animals especially during transportation.
● Implementation of animal protection laws at gross route level.
● To supervise and monitor the overall functioning of animal welfare organizations.
● To carry out the inspection of slaughter houses with regards to humane slaughter of animals.
● To create awareness among public, school childrens for developing sense of compassion towards well being of animals

ON GOING ACTIVITIES
● District SPCA under the Chairmanship of District Collector, Ananthapuramu had been registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2001.
● 5.0 acres of land allotted to District SPCA at Fodder Seed Multiplication Farm, Reddypalli for constructing Goshala.
● For Construction of Gopala proposals submitted to Project Director,DWMA, Anantapur for sanction in convergence with MGNREGS.
